Le Grès
Country House to Rent, South West France
Situated on a hilltop to the south of the bastide village of Lauzerte in the Tarn et Garonne, Le Grès faces south across the valley of the Barguelonne with wide views to the distant Pyrenees.
The house is approached through a wood and is completely secluded surrounded by its lawns and terraces planted with lavender, rosemary and flowering shrubs which fall to the south past fig trees and a meadow to vineyards and a small lake beyond. There is an air of tranquility and peace.
The terraces, one south facing and one under a vine against the west wall of the house provide, respectively sun and dappled shade important for lunch and comfortable for dinner during the summer months.
The house sleeps 18 and has seven bedrooms, five bathrooms and two shower rooms. The large fireplace in the Salon provides comfort in the winter months while the library with its fireplace and westerly views of South West France at the other end of the house and allows an escape to ones own seclusion in the winter and direct access to the poolside in the summer.
What are customers think....
Le Grès is our family’s “home from home” en France! We have enjoyed it for some 6 years now, filling it with family and friends. The totally private garden and views are stunning. The house is very old with great character and as it is the owner’s home (when it is not rented), it is filled with beautiful antiques, art and objects. The kitchen is fully stocked encouraging one to be creative. There is a huge choice of beautiful crockery, and a lovely long table to enjoy long lazy lunches on the terrace shaded by a thick ancient vine. There are many choices of seating, both outside and in, and shelves filled with hundreds of books. The pretty pool is a good size and essential on hot summer days with plenty of sun beds and swimming towels. The bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms are cleverly decorated and comfortable. Anne, the house keeper has been looking after Le Grès for years and there is nothing she cannot cope with! Le Grès holds a very special place in our hearts.
